Fernando Santiago García obtained his Bachelor Degree Cello in 2011 at the Koninkljk Conservatorium in The Hague with the highest marks, as a student of Lucia Swarts and Dmitri Ferschtman. As a modern cellist he has been a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Accademy in Bolzano. He has worked together with the violinists Lucy van Dael, Vera Beths and Kees Hülsmann. Fernando has received masterclasses from Wolfgang Boettcher, Raphael Wallfisch, Harro Ruijsenaars, Hidemi Suzuki and Bart van Oort, and he has performed in the major concert halls in The Netherlands, including Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Dr. Anton Philipszaal (The Hague), Vredenburg (Utrecht) and De Doelen (Rotterdam). In 2010 he was appointed assistant teacher in the department for Young Talents at the Koninklijk Conservatorium, working with Jan-Ype Nota and Lucia Swarts. Since 2011, he has focused on studies in historical performance practice with Anner Bylsma and Lucia Swarts.
