EFFE Award 2015 in Parijs – 27 september

Met ruim 200 vertegenwoordigers van 760 festivals, waaronder het Geelvinck Fortepiano Festival, vierde EFFE / Europe for Festivals / Festivals for Europe, de eerste EFFE Award uitreiking, toegekend aan 12 festivals, waaronder twee Nederlandse. In het Parijse Théâtre de la Ville / Châtelet nam Frans de Ruiter (vm. directeur Holland Festival) de prijs voor Manifesta in ontvangst, Ook Noorderzon in Groningen viel in de prijzen.

 

Manifesta en Noorderzon 

Manifesta en Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival Groningen hebben op zondag 27 september in Parijs een Europese EFFE-award for excellence in ontvangst mogen nemen. De EFFE-awards werden voor het eerst uitgereikt aan individuele festivals die een Europese voorloperspositie hebben op het gebied van artistieke waarde, innovatie, internationalisering, politieke waarde en duurzaamheid. De ceremonie vond plaats in Théâtre de la Ville in Parijs als onderdeel van het prestigieuze Festival d’Automne. Artistiek directeur Mark Yeoman nam namens Noorderzon de award in ontvangst, waarbij Noorderzon als een van de award-winnende festivals werd geprezen om zijn uitzonderlijke kwaliteit en het nemen van risico’s bij het maken van het festival.

760 uiterst diverse festivals van alle disciplines uit 31 landen werden in overweging genomen voor deze prijzen. Daar werden uiteindelijk 12 festivals uit geselecteerd, waaronder Noorderzon en Manifesta.

De award-winnende festivals 2015

Alle award-winnende festivals zijn: Ars Electronica (Linz, Oostenrijk), Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (Aix-en-Provence, Frankrijk), BIG BANG (Antwerpen, België), Malta Festival Poznań (Poznań, Polen), Midnight Sun Film Festival (Sodankylä, Finland), Manifesta (Amsterdam, NL), NEXT (Lille, Frankrijk/Kortrijk, België (Vlaanderen)/Tournai, België (Wallonië)), Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival (Groningen, NL), Perforations Festival (Zagreb/Rijeka/Dubrovnik, Croatia), Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space (Praag, Tsjechië), Santarcangelo Festival Internazionale del teatro in Piazza (Santarcangelo di Romagna, Italië) en SICK! (Brighton/Manchester, Verenigd Koninkrijk).

De EFFE-jury bestaat uit een aantal belangrijke ervaringsdeskundigen uit het internationale veld, met als voorzitter Vincent Baudriller, directeur van Théatre Vidy in Lausanne (Zwitserland) en tevens voormalig artistiek directeur van Festival d’Avignon (Frankrijk).

EFFE Community Launch

De EFFE Community Launch op 27 september 2015 vond plaats in het Google Cultural Institute. EFFE werkt samen met het Festival d’Automne à Paris, het Théâtre de la Ville en het Google Cultural Institute in Parijs.

EFFE Guide 2015-2016

Ter gelegenheid van de EFFE Awarduitreiking is ook de EFFE Guide, uitgegeven door Lannoo Publ., ten doop gehouden. Hierin zijn alle aangesloten festivals in Europa opgenomen, waaronder het Geelvinck Fortepiano Festival.

OVER HET BOEK
Het Europees project Europe for Festivals. Festivals for Europe wil een eenvormig platform bieden aan alle culturele festivals in Europa.

Het EFFE-platform is opgericht met de steun van de EU om de kwaliteit en de diversiteit van de culturele festivals in Europa nog beter in de kijker te plaatsen. Een jury van internationale experts kende aan een uitgelezen selectie van 761 festivals uit 31 landen de eerste EFFE-kwaliteitslabels toe.

Op 27 september 2015 zijn ook de eerste EFFE-awards – de ‘oscars’ van de culturele festivals – uitgereikt in Parijs. Het EFFE-platform, met de website www.effe.eu, wil ook de innovatie in het festivallandschap stimuleren en van Europa een dynamische plek voor diversiteit, burgerschap en democratie maken.

EFFE / EFA

EFFE (Europe for Festivals and Festivals for Europe) is een platform dat eerder dit jaar werd opgericht door de EFA / European Festivals Association (1952) met het idee extra aandacht te besteden aan het grote belang voor festivals voor de Europese samenleving. Honderden festivals sloten zich het afgelopen jaar aan bij dit platform, dat een gidsfunctie wil gaan vervullen voor festivals in Europa.

EFA / EUROPEAN FESTIVALS ASSOCIATION
De European Festivals Association is de koepelorganisatie voor culturele festivals in Europa. Ze bestaat sinds meer dan 60 jaar en werd opgericht door Igor Markevitch en Denis de Rougemont.

EFFE Award Ceremony and EFFE Community Launch to take place in Paris on 27 September

On Sunday 27 September 2015 in Paris, Europe’s festival community is invited to the EFFE Award Ceremony and EFFE Community Launch to celebrate the first edition of the EFFE Labels and Awards. This day celebrated the diversity and importance of festivals and is presented in collaboration with the Festival d’Automne à Paris, the Théâtre de la Ville and the Google Cultural Institute.

The EFFE Award Ceremony is the culmination of the first edition of the EFFE Platform, a pilot project of the European Commission initiated by the European Festivals Association that aims to recognize, enrich and celebrate the immense power and contribution the arts and festivals in particular can make to European society. 250 festival representatives, artists, journalists from all over Europe and representatives of the European Commission and European Parliament were present to participate in this festive moment.

The Award Ceremony is developed in partnership with the Festival d’Automne and the Théâtre de la Ville. The announcement of the EFFE Awards will be an inspiring moment to look at the trends in festivals across Europe and to celebrate the accomplishments of the award winners and the 760 labelled festivals.

The EFFE Community Launch is hosted by the Google Cultural Institute and will bring together festivals and community stakeholders to discuss how to contribute to and benefit from the EFFE community, making use of its many tools and opportunities for festivals.
